Zazzy'z Coffee, Abingdon, VA

A really charming nook in the midst of historic downtown Abingdon! About eight tables, and in addition to a full listing of coffees and espresso drinks from around the world, they have some pastries and more substantial food, too. Everyone was really friendly and good-spirited, and one of the employees raved about her job being the best she'd ever had because the owners treated her so well.

I had a decaf latte and some kind of black bean lasagna. The latte was good, but the black bean lasagna was amazing! The coffee is roasted on site, too, which is great, and they offered several options which were organic and fair trade. A real plus!! I purchased a bag of Peruvian decaf, light roast, which was organic and fair trade, and will offer thoughts after brewing some.

Free wireless internet was a real plus, too, as well as the knitting shop which shares space in the bottom floor of the Victorian house that is the space for these businesses. The knitting shop, A Likely Yarn, is small, but the women there are really friendly and helpful, and offer a lot of very interesting specialty yarns as well as help for that difficult new project. www.alikelyyarn.com
